Skincare Saturday #10? I can't believe I've kept up with it this long! This is also a Green Your Routine. Finding a natural product of something you use a lot OR finding a natural alternative for things you barely hear about in the natural world (like razors).
When it comes to lotion I really wanted to switch that to natural as soon as I can since I like to slather it all over my body.
The Acure lotion is wonderful! The lemongrass scent I have seriously smells like spring air! And just a little like citrus. I got this not even a month ago an it's already more than half gone! The other great thing about this is that it moisturizes enough without feeling greasy or oily! This is far from oily! I had the orange scent before but like this one even more. This is a perfect lotion for me. I got it from Whole Foods for $9 but you can get it on LuckyVitamin or Vitacost for just a but cheaper.
Things to look for in lotion- Aloe: Aloe is naturally calming and soothing. Butters: (shea butter, cocoa butter, mango butter) These natural butters are very deeply nourishing and moisturizing to skin. Oils: (Olive oil, coconut oil, rosehip oil, evening primrose oil, avacado oil, ect.) Natural oils are wonderful for moisturizing your skin and making it glow.
Things to AVOID in lotion- Alcohol- This is drying to skin. Water- Although this isn't bad for you it again can be naturally drying. Silicones- This is a 'fake' moisturizer. It acts kind of likes plastic to coat the skin, keeping anything from leaving your skin or good things (like vid. D) from the sun) out of your skin.
What You Need- About 1 cup of pitted dates, Any nut of your choice (you'll use these to roll them in) Flaked coconut (same use as the nuts)
1. Put the nut of your choice (I used pecans) in the food processor to grind it into tiny pieces. You can make it however fine you like
2.. Put all of your dates in the food processor and pulse it up till it's a thick paste..
3. Get a spoon to scoop out a small amount of date paste 4. Roll it into a ball... 5. Then roll it in the nuts or coconut and work with it to press the topping into it so it won't just fall off.
I realized... I technically have 5 moisturizers at this time... yes, 5. And yes, it's not needed. I really want to minimize my skincare routine.
What I'm Using- Cleanser, Toner, Acne Treatment, Day serum, Day moisturizer with SPF, Night Serum, Night cream. (No I don't use ALL of my moisturizers together- see my skincare routines to see what I do)
What I want to change to- Cleanser, Toner, Day moisturizer with SPF, A nightime moisturizer, 1 oil or serum.
1. Spending limit of $30- This is all I'm allowing myself for things other than food (green beauty products, clothes, books, ect.)
2. Saving goal of $50- I not only want to be not spending money but I also want to make sure I'm putting money in savings too.
3. Exercise 3 times a week- I want to focus on doing walking and yoga for the tummy and waist.
4. Stick to eating 80% raw- As you saw in my skin update, I was pretty bad one week with eating sugar, dairy, and packaged food and it affected my skin greatly. The more raw I eat, the better my skin looks.
I finally went through the rest of my non-natural makeup so now it's time to re-stock with some natural makeup goodies. I ordered from The All Natural Face, Brija, and OhSudz Yes most of these are samples with a few full size things. I want to test out things before I get too many full sizes.
First thing (which is actually the last thing to come) is my OhSudz concealer in the color Light Warm. It did have a bit of a oily layer on the top so I used the back of my fingernail to scrape some out, worked much better.
From The All Natural Face I got... The Vegan Eye Primer and the Diva Stick in Dark Brown. I have a feeling it's gonna be hard to find something that will keep shadows from creasing on me, I have very oily eyelids. Does anyone know how the oily lid primer works?
I got 12 shadow samples. I don't like the tiny containers they come in because I can barely fit my brush in it, I prefer them to be in bags. Angel Kissed White Gold, Fawn, Creme Brulee,
